Tri Cycle are pleased to announce a new series of Winter/Spring Cycle Rides, to be held between January and April 2010.

These rides will be suitable for all cyclists who want to discover a bit of the local countryside in the company of others.

Each ride is lead by Tri Cycle's experienced instructors and are ridden at a leisurely pace. Typically each ride will be about 3 hours duration and approximately 30 miles in length and aim to be non-stop, with refreshments being taken en-route and at the finish. All of the rides are on quiet country roads with some short traffic free sections at times.   The rides take place on selected Saturdays starting from the car park at Lisburn Civic Centre. Full instructions and route details are issued at the start.  There is a small registration fee of £2 per ride. 

All rides start at 10:00 am

Details of the rides are as follows: Saturdays:  16th and 23rd January, 13th and 27th February, 13th and 27th march and 10th and 17th April

 

The Craigavon Cycle Trail

 

The Craigavon Cycle Trail is a ride through the Borough of Craigavon linking inland waterways, the shores of Lough Neagh and picturesque villages.

The level, traffic free sections through City Park and the Newry to Portadown Canal are suitable for family or novice cyclists whilst the undulating countryside of County Armagh offers the magnificant vistas of Slieve Croob and the distant Mourne Mountains for those wishing to explore the area.

All participants are asked to raise a minimum of £20 sponsorship.

Maryland Wheelers is an open and friendly cycling club based in the city of Lisburn, although we attract members from much of the surrounding area.The club was founded in 1930.  Our primary focus is on road cycling and within our 44 strong membership of both young and old we have a mix of ability and ambition. Maryland caters for a variety of cycling needs from the social leisure cyclist, to the challenge seeking sportive rider, to the more competitive road racer / timetriallist and in more recent years those from the sporting discipline of triathlon. Our club offers regular organised, social rides and training runs with a firm emphasis on safe cycling. There is a wealth of cycling knowledge and support on offer to cyclists of all ages and abilities within our club. Although our club has a competitive edge we have never lost our sense of humour and we all enjoy a laugh;so if you enjoy a laugh,can take and give a bit of stick we might be the club for you. Club runs take place every Monday,Wednesday,Saturday,Sunday.

Maryland Wheelers is a cycling club with a proud tradition. Over the years many great cyclists have worn the club's colours. Champions of their generation, Albert Ewart, WJ Stewart, Maurice Donaldson, Tommy Givan and in more recent times Heather Wilson is the current Irish ladies time-trial record holder and road race champion. In 2008 and Mark Greer broke the Irish Vets record for a 50 TT recording a time of 1hr 49mins 12secs. Even though the core of open race riders are few, Maryland continues year after year to achieve some notable results
